TECHNICAL DESIGN ASSOCIATES was incorporated in October 1989 as a mold/tool/product design source primarily for the Southeast. CAD came into play in early 1991 when the company bought it's first 33mhz computer loaded with CADKEY 2.X. Time and the evolution of 2D engineering to more and more complex 3D models required the company to search for better ways to handle data that could no longer be dealt with in a 2D environment. Having gone through a series of software and hardware trials and tribulations, the company has finally found a workable platform in SolidWorks.
WES COBB has been involved in the development and design of tooling and parts for over thirty-five years. Starting in 1966 with Taylor Instrument Co. in Rochester, NY as a drafter that culminated with a four year stint in the U.S.A.F. He joined Alliance Mold Co. in Rochester, NY in 1972 as a mold designer trainee. That initial training and seven years of higher ed. allowed for a career transition into a Mold Designer position with Eastman Kodak in early 1976. Familial responsibilities required a geographic relocation in mid 1979 which brought him to Asheville, NC where he continued his career as a mold\product designer and as Engineering Manager for Atlas Tool and Mold in Arden, NC. for eight years. Events led to him establishing his own company, Technical Design Associates in October 1989.
